Yep, another day of no blogging! We have a rest day and electricity today (July 15) so I’m catching up.
The route for Day 8 was phenomenal! Exhilarating! A mountain biker’s dream! It drizzled for several hours during the ride but the temp was perfect for riding. No complaints.

I unfortunately did not take many photos, however, because I was on a gravel bike, NOT a mountain bike. I gripped the brakes so hard and for so long that it was difficult to use my phone, type, eat, scratch, do just about anything afterwards. I also rammed my right little toe against a log. Based upon its color(s) and size today, I suspect I’ve broken the wee digit.

Anyway, I’m glad I did the ride and survived it. There really wasn’t another option. If you don’t ride to the next destination, you simply don’t get to the next destination. You either do this or you don’t. Life is so simple this way! I’m digging it!

For dinner, the leaders took us all to a Mexican restaurant. That was great! And, hmm, I just realized that I really haven’t talked much about the “all” on this trip. There are thirteen of us: two leaders, two college students doing some kind of air quality research, and nine of the rest of us. We’re all retired and everyone is way more interesting than I could dream of being. Perhaps along the way I will expound upon the merits of each.

For now, though, going to keep this short and then go charge my energy depleted phone. Tomorrow is a sixty-plus mile ride with quite a bit of elevation gain. Must charge myself up, too!
